Waiting for adoption

Eat it!

Licking the bowl

Making cookies

Day 10...

Yesterday i really notice how the nose of the eggs go down. The rounded part has the air pocket and the pointy part has the baby, and weights it down. I checked one of the blue laced Wyandottes and... big baby in there! Looks like we are getting a dark blue chick!! So amazing!
Last night, i had a dream about the little Chestnut color lion head bunny at the Farm store...Hum...You know what they say about pets. Even if he is not so cute, the personality counts. I saw him cuddling and licking the others....Well he surely looks like a miniature copy of the big one!
I have 2 weeks to find them now.
I am really happy.

Cute kids

Day 9! Petting Zoo! YAY!

Rebolotte, un autre jour...avec les oeufs!
We went to the farm store for fun, they had turkey chicks, chicks and brown bunnies. The cutest one thought Emy's finger was a carrot! OUCH!
I had a white bunny when i was a kid and we lived in the country. He was cute.
Watch out for bunny fever! I am thinking about a lion head for Didi since Lions are his favorite animals and a Holland lop for Emy.....i think Sarah is too small to have her own...?
So spoiled! When do you spoil them, when they are out of the house? No, now is a good time to have a petting Zoo.
So i am thinking about getting them for Easter. The Rabbitries are a little too far, Noa's Arch will have some in the coming weeks. YAY!

Day 7...

Here is the farm we went to:

http://sunnybrookefarm.googlepages.com/photogallery

You can see pictures of the breed i got:
Barred rock, Easter Egger, Golden laced Wyandottes, Blue laced Wyandottes, Silver laced Wyandottes. For the last one it says on the egg Rhode island brown sex link? The sex link is lighter than the Rhode island, will see.
I wanted some Cuckoo Maran but they had none. Next time, i will try with Wellsummer.

I read that you should candle the eggs at day 14 and after that, the chicks take the whole room and you can't see anything anymore.
I have been watering the incubator through a ventilation hole with a water spray so i don't open the incubator anymore, way better.

Day 6!

So Yesterday, i could not wait anymore longer, i candled the eggs. Here is how you do it.

http://www.backyardchickens.com/LC-candling.html

So.....I have babies!!! and a lot. Day 10, i will record them.
Whatever i have been doing, i am doing it right!!
So i am very happy. In one egg, i could see like an eye against the shell.
So amazing!
Today, the plugs are out.

Day 5!

It has been snowing and it is colder in the house, so i put the vent plugs in the incubator to keep the warmth in since it doesn't regulate itself.

I have only 2 pounds more to loose. I only had 2 burgers since last may, pretty good!

Day 4!

Hatching is so slow!!!
I have been asked why am i hatching eggs. I have many reasons. My friend Jill hatches eggs every year for Easter. Last year, i came to her house the morning they started hatching! It was fascinating to me, exiting! First time i ever saw that, being from Paris.
She has a small farm with chickens, goats and bunnies.
I am thinking about getting a farm also, but, i would have to make sure the kids will play with the animal. So it would stay small.
So, i think it is a great experience for the kids to hatch and for me. We are keeping the chickens, except the roosters will have to find another home because of our city law here.
I am so happy to be living in a rural area. I love going to a farm store and see baby chicks, etc...try to get the kids out of that store!

HAHAHA

Crazy fun!

Notice Dallins feet on Russ's head! LOL

This little stuffed animal that Emy had just looks like him!

Day 3!

This Thermometer is a little stressing. Here is a picture of my hygrometer. I read that it is a good idea to have the temp at 101 and low humidity, because the chick needs an air pocket when pocking through and if too wet, the air pocket will be full of water and the chick will drown, so i am keeping more in the low than high.

Day 2!

The eggs are doing good, i think. I got everything stabilized. I turn the eggs at 8:30 am, 4 pm and 9:30. The kids are asking me if they are going to Hatch now. That's cute. Everything takes time in nature. In day 7, i will candle them.

We are all exited! I have an Humidity and temperature meter in the incubator. It was hard to ajust it at first, but i have it down. 99.5 to 100.5 and 50 to 55 % humidity.

Russ 's present

I made a scrapbook album for Russ's birthday. I put the terrible 2 pictures of each kids with a little note on the opposite page with why they love him.
